Becoming the church we claim to be

While reflecting on yesterday’s political violence in Washington, D.C., Rev. Terri Hord Owens stated, “no matter what your politics, we’ve lost our moral compass as a nation and we have to get really clear about what is morally right.”

She challenged Christians to actually reflect the light of Christ in our world and to become the church that we claim to be. This can sometimes feel an abstract concept. Jesus gives us a concrete description of what it means to live out the kingdom of God in the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12.
