FSX: hand flying to the Motor City
Most of my real life flight hours have been made in Cessna aircraft. Over the years, I managed to get a couple of hours in twins, but have never really spent much time in anything larger than our flying club’s 172. For my next round of virtual flying I decided to give the Beechcraft Baron a go.
I loaded up at Indianapolis International Airport and filed an IFR flight plan for Detroit Metropolitan Airport. DTW is a place I have flown into many times as a passenger, but I have never had the chance to visit as a pilot. To make things a little more interesting, I decided to hand fly this trip instead of relying on autopilot. This forced me to practice my instrument scan and meant I was fully worn out when I landed safely in Michigan an hour and a half later.
