Flying over the Great Salt Lake
Delta Airlines recently gave me a chance to get my first ever in-person view of the Great Salt Lake. The sky was perfectly clear and the snow capped mountains seemed to be right below the wing of the plane. The bright blue of the lake was a stark contrast to the dull brown which surrounded Salt Lake City, Utah for miles in every direction. A quick change of planes at SLC airport allowed me to see the area from a couple of different angles. Although desolate and remote, there is a profound beauty to the desert which is extremely hard to capture in a photograph from the window seat of an airliner.
